Bollywood Dreams

June 2018

Bride Tiya Nandi and her teenage sister Pooja Nandi were animatedly discussing ‘Bole Chudiya,’ ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ and other mushy KJO songs when I picked them up from the Trident Hotel, at Mumbai’s Nariman Point. No prizes for guessing what kind of a wedding Tiya would have had in mind. “My biggest attraction to India is Bollywood,” admitted Tiya. “I don’t even know how to speak Hindi, but I have seen Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham over 50 times. I will wear Manish Malhotra (who designs for Karan Johar hits) on my sangeet and dance to these songs. I am very serious about living my dream from the Hindi movies.” I was curious to know why Tiya wasn’t inspired by Hollywood, as she was a diehard New Yorker.” “Oh yes,” she replied. “I am getting married at the iconic Plaza Hotel, just like Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway did in Bride Wars.”

Totally Bollywood-crazy, Tiya wanted to gatecrash Anushka Sharma’s wedding to get a glimpse of Shah Rukh Khan whom she referred to as her “god.” Sorry to report, Tiya did not get to see Shah Rukh Khan. But on her wedding shopping trip to Mumbai, she managed to get selfies with the Shah Rukh Khan of bridal fashion – Sabyasachi Mukherjee himself at his store. “I am a Bengali and the biggest fan of Sabyasachi,” she explained. “I will wear a red lehenga for my wedding as he recommends all Bengali brides to wear red.” And she kept to her words.

Kind Words

“As we always have told our friends and family, the best thing we did was to get your Nisha’s services. So many of our friends have gone to India and tried to accomplish their shopping as they planned, but have been baffled and unable to achieve the best results. They keep wondering how we were able to accomplish every detail and at the finest places. We owe it all to Bridelan. Nisha, without your services, we would have been totally lost. Not only that but the fact that you made sure that we got every item on time.

Sometimes, we ordered nearly last minute but still they managed to reach us on time. That was a big load off my mind as a parent. In fact, I have been advising every person that asks me about personal shopping and strongly recommend that Nisha’s services are a very essential and wise investment!”
