There cannot be a greater gift from a man to his wife than the Taj Mahal. From such a personal inheritance, the remarkable thing about the Taj is that it has become a universal gift to mankind. It’s an essence of beauty that represents immortal love. As an Indian, I had heard so much about it that when our crew arrived in Agra on a foggy wintery morning I thought I knew the monument visually. But how it took me by surprise! Fair warning: the Taj has the power to move you to tears. It’s a work of beauty and poetry and you cannot explain its soulful majesty to a person who has not seen it. The pictures don’t do it justice but we tried, dwarfed and in awe as we stood in front of love’s greatest achievement.
